Alexa+ Gets Serious About Everyday Tasks with New Partner Apps

Look, AI tools are everywhere now, but this one actually caught my attention because it tackles real-world problems. Amazon just rolled out new Alexa+ integrations that might actually make your life easier instead of just being party tricks.

The big news? Alexa+ now plays nice with Angi for home repairs, Expedia for travel planning, Square for business payments, and Yelp for finding local spots. This joins the existing lineup with Uber, OpenTable, and a few others. But here's what makes this interesting - these aren't random partnerships. They're targeting the stuff we actually use voice assistants for.

I've been testing Alexa+ since its launch earlier in 2025, and honestly, the difference is noticeable. Need a plumber? Ask Alexa to find one through Angi. Planning a trip? Book your flight hands-free through Expedia. Running a small business? Process payments with Square voice commands. The Yelp integration is particularly smooth - just ask for the best Thai food nearby and it pulls real reviews, not just generic listings.

What strikes me most is how Amazon seems to have figured out the sweet spot. Previous Alexa updates felt like tech for tech's sake. But connecting with services people already trust and use daily? That's smart. The Square integration alone could be huge for small business owners who need to multitask.

Sure, there are still some rough edges. Voice recognition isn't perfect, especially with complex requests. And you'll need the Alexa+ subscription, which runs about ten bucks a month. But if you're already using these services regularly, having them all accessible through voice commands starts to make sense. This feels less like Amazon trying to wow us with AI magic and more like them solving actual problems.
